Guimaras Oil Spill - Plea for help

Last august 11, Petron’s Solar I oil tanker sank at Guimaras Island. The tanker was carrying 500,000 gallons of oil and it leaked about 50,000 gallons already. The oil spill has affected 200 kilometers of shoreline, damaging more than 1000 hectares of mangroves in the area. Needless to say that it’s a catastrophe and it would take at least a year to clean up the shores of Guimaras. But, its business as usual for Petron! It was reported that they are paying the locals just 200 pesos per day to clean up the mess they made… that’s a pittance on how much they earn and to think that these locals, mostly fishermen, were earning 500 bucks a day before the tragedy. Please sign this petition to let Petron be accountable to this tragedy.

It’s been a month now since I’ve been initiated to sudoku and since then I’m hooked. Sudoku’s highly addictive and it's keeping me busy and entertained while waiting for a train (keeps me from cursing the fuckin lrt for keeping me late… well, that’s another long story). Anyways sudoku is also a good company when you’re traveling, keeps you unaware of the traffic and annoying chatter of your fellow passengers… but it also made me missed my station a couple of times hehehe. I’m proud to say that I am now moving to the evil level. I’ve been downloading my free sudoku puzzles from here http://www.sudoku129.com/puzzles/ so join in on the fun.

For those who have no idea what the heck i'm talking about, here’s a definition from wikipedia:
“Sudoku, also known as Number Place or Nanpure, is a logic-based placement puzzle. The aim of the puzzle is to enter a numerical digit from 1 through 9 in each cell of a 9×9 grid made up of 3×3 subgrids (called "regions"), starting with various digits given in some cells (the "givens"); each row, column, and region must contain only one instance of each numeral. Completing the puzzle requires patience and logical ability.”

A colleague of mine sent me this link http://www.freestuffhotdeals.com/hacker/1.html, and being a puzzle addict myself I happily answered the riddles but that fuckin ojofuffo kept me stuck in page 19… anyways I finally got to the last page and saw granny dancing.

SPOILERS! Below are the answers to all the pages:

The first page gives all the hint you’ll ever need, and you have to be really dumb if you cant get to the next page. Just replace 1 with 2.

Page 2 has the word “two”, follow the pattern to go to the next level… replace 2 with three.

To get to page 4 just replace three with iv. Think that’s self explanatory, since iv is the roman numeral of the number four.

You’ll get the word ruof which is the number four spelled backwards. Since the next page you want to go to is 5, you have to type the word five in reverse as well, so type in evif to go to page 5.

You’re in page five and have this ffiivvee glaring at you. You just have to see the pattern; you want to get to page 6, double every letter and you’ll get ssiixx.

666666. No its not an evil sign or something. Just follow the pattern, no need to compute… just type in 7 seven times. 7777777

uranus is the seventh planet in the solar system, so you have to ask what the eighth planet is… and the only answer is neptune.

acht is number 8 in German language… so it’s telling us to give the number 9 in German which is neun, pronounced as noin.

sept, once again you just have to see the pattern, September is the ninth month and October is the tenth month but you have to just type in oct since the clue is abbreviated.

Next page will give you a 10th of spades playing card, the next level you’re aiming is 11, and if you’re talking about cards, there is no eleven, but there is jack.

Page 11 just shows you eLeVeN, so all you need to do is follow suit and type in the number twelve, but make sure you’re following the pattern, notice that the word eLeVeN has caps alternately, so you have to type in twelve in the same pattern… tWeLvE

144, now you have to do some math in here. 144 is the product of 12 x 12, since we want the page 13, you have to compute for 13 x 13 = 169

You’ll only get a black page on level 13, so you have the highlight the center and you’ll get the word number13, so level 14 means typing in number14, no space between number and 14.

catorce, is the number 14 in Spanish… so the number 15 is quince

James Buchanan, is the fifteenth president of the USA, and so it follows that the site is asking for the sixteenth president who is none other than Abraham Lincoln. just type in lincoln.

sedecim is number 16 in latin, and you know the rule… number 17 in Latin is septendecim

10001 is 17 in binary. You just have to find the conversion of the decimal number 18 into binary. The binary numeral system (base 2 numerals) represents numeric values using two symbols, and the only numbers you’ll be seeing are 0 and 1.
<-- this is the long way to compute.
Based on this computation/formula you will gather that the typical way to count numbers in binary is 1 2 4 8 16 32 64 and so on. You just have to put 1s and 0s in the sequence to add up to 18, another thing is you count it backwards. See the table below to get to the 10010 binary value of 18.

(Just remember that 1 has a value and 0 is null, so you’ll notice that only the numbers 2 and 16 are marked with 1… so 2+16 = 18)

argon is the 18th element in the periodic table of elements, and potassium is the 19th element. (Now, this one makes you remember your chemistry teacher and how you hated her when she asked you to memorized all the elements and its corresponding number in the table)

ojofuffo, now this fuckin word kept me stuck! How could this meaningless word would mean anything like 19 or be related to 20? I’ve tried different languages but no, so grrr I asked the answer from leslie, and she said the answer is uxfouz. Ok what the heck! I can’t just accept that the answer is uxfouz, there has to be logic. Then when you see the logic you’ll realize that ojofuffo is not meaningless afterall. It’s a sequence wherein you replace an alphabet letter by shifting one letter forward. So a=b, b=c, c=d, and so on. nineteen becomes ojofuffo and twenty becomes uxfouz.

icosagon is the 20 sided polygon. Remember the rule of naming polygons with greek prefixes. Anyways, the 21 sided polygon is called icosihenagon.

1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, ... 10946. This is the famous fibonacci sequence (adding the last 2 digits to get the next number). 10946 is the 21st number in the sequence so you have to compute to get the 22nd number which is 17711. The formula is usually Fn = Fn-1 + Fn-2

Aoozy, Booyy, Cooxy, ... Vooey… look for the pattern, and you’ll see the answer. First letter in the word is capitalized and follow the normal sequence of the alphabet. Next letter to V in the alphabet is W, it is consistent that the 2nd and 3rd letters is o, so we now have Woo. The fourth letter is backwards, from z to a, hence from vooey, the next letter to e is d, and we have the word Wood. The last letter is always y, so the answer would be Woody.

Hope you enjoyed it! =)

The concept of "infinity" is not like "ojofuffo". You know the meaning of infinity but you cannot comprehend it. But, you neither know the meaning of "ojofuffo", nor you can comprehend it. Whenever you assign a meaning to "ojofuffo", you relate it to an already existing concept, and it comes into the universe of existence.

It was another boring Saturday so I took my camera and pestered my nanay while she’s preparing pinangat. Even as a kid, I have always been fascinated watching my mother prepare this special dish.

Disclaimer: I am not attempting to teach you how to cook, or even hint that I know how to cook. I just want to post somehting out of boredom.

You must have a palayok or earthen pot in order to cook pinangat, otherwise it wont taste as good as what my nanay tells me. That’s why when our old palayok got broken, she didn’t cook pinagnat for a long time, not until she was able to buy a new one all the way from san juan batangas. She said that the best palayok are made from san juan.

You’ll need fish as the primary ingredient (any fish can be made into pinangat, but this time we’re using the dilis… but the best fish to use is tawilis, a small fish that can only be found at lemery, batangas); soy sauce; salt; and dried kamyas. You will also need banana leaves to wrap the fish.

The dilis or anchovies. (Wash and remove the internal organ of the dilis.)

Cut the banana leaves into rectangular pieces (layer the leaves as shown in the picture) and add a handful of dilis.

Fold the leaf on 4 sides and tie it ending with a ribbon on top for easier handling (This also prevents accidental opening of the wrap while cooking).

Put the dried kamyas at the bottom of palayok, not sure for the exact reason but it definitely adds flavor.

Put the wrapped dilis inside palayok, add water, salt and soysauce.

Cook for about 30 minutes, and it’s ready to serve.

If you add enough water, you'll get this tasty patis.

Ready to eat… doesn’t look good but it taste really good. Best served with balatong.

hello kitty love

hello kitty

Most of the people I know, knows the secret that I love Hello Kitty. I don’t know why I always feel happy and giddy when I see her cute face but for sure, I’ll be forever enamored with this cat who doesn’t even have a mouth! I like to surround myself with hello kitty stuff because it makes me feel good and I just love looking at her. I’ve gather quite enough KT stuff but I still can’t get enough of them, I still have this urge to buy any KT item that I see. Anyways, I’ve been meaning to post my hello kitty stuff in here for a long time, but being the great procrastinator that I am, I’m only doing it now. I am now sharing her cuteness; enjoy looking at them as much as I do.

I love this group picture of my plush dolls; check out this album for more pictures of these lovely creatures. Too bad they’re so expensive… don’t have enough money to buy a really big one.

So far this brownie kitty is the biggest in my collection, only 14 inch high. So, I am knocking on your good hearts to please give me a really big KT doll hehehe.

Now that you've seen my dolls, lets move on to my bags! I only realized last night (while taking this pictures) that I already have plenty of bags … and the only non-kitty bag I have is the MFG black bag. Geez wish I could use all of them at the same time.

I’ve had this bag for so long I can’t remember exactly when I actually bought it. Take note of the cute pink KT embroidery at the lower left hand side. Luv it! I’ve been using it everyday for the longest time and it’s still in good shape. I always call it my magic bag, coz no matter how many things I put inside, the form stays the same and it can really carry lotsa things even though it’s small.

This one’s my overnight bag. Roomy enough for overnight stuff and if you just roll your clothes really neat, it can fit in a 2 day change of clean clothes.

This is my messenger bag; I usually carry it when I’m just goofing around, more likely when I’m window shopping. I love the side pocket; my cellphone fits in nicely, but these days you really have to be careful so I just put my sunglasses in there… don’t want my cp to be stolen or worse my beloved KT bag slashed.

I just love this bag. The moment I saw it displayed at the gift gate rob manila, I knew I just gotta have it. I remember reading somewhere to “Buy it if it haunts you.” that is always the case with me when I see KT stuff. (but I didn’t let this cute piece haunt me, I bought it that day when I saw it… hahaha).

I love this pouch bag because of the button design… darn my picture isn’t good enough; if you look closely the button is engraved with the letters HELLO KITTY at the bottom. I saw this design online and I’ve been scouring stores to find this locally, good thing I found a store from heaven that sells this stuff.

This black bag is exactly the same bag as my pink bag but yes the colors are different, hehehe. It’s a gift from a friend who knows how I love hello kitty. I even have a wallet that matches this bag, that wallet was also given to me by a dear friend who shares my passion with hello kitty. I'll post my hello kitty wallets next time.

This brown monogram bag is so chic and versatile; I can use it no matter what I wear. I feel sexy whenever I carry it nyahaha! Really love the embroidered face of KT in the front.

My only white bag! I’m one hell of a messy girl so I stay out of the color white as much as possible, but I just can’t resist this quilted white bag.

I’ve heard that this season, metallic accessories are hot, hot, hot! Good thing I have this stylish coin purse. Dont you just wish you have this as well hahaha.
